Admission and application

Entry requirements

To qualify for admission to the programme, applicants must have:

  1. Completed a bachelor’s degree in the natural, health or technical sciences, or a corresponding qualification at bachelor’s level

  2. Accumulated at least 120 ECTS credits (2 full academic years) in chemical and/or biological subjects

  3. Accumulated at least 15 ECTS credits (1/4 of a full academic year) in biological subjects in the subject areas biochemistry and/or molecular biology and/or microbiology

  4. Accumulated at least 15 ECTS credits (1/4 of a full academic year) in chemical subjects, of which at least 10 ECTS credits (1/6 of a full academic year) must be in the subject area of organic chemistry

  5. Applicants from non EU/EEA countries who speak or write English as a second language must have passed the IELTS test with a score minimum of 6.0 or the TOEFL IBT test with a minimum score of 83 or a minimum of 560 in the paper based test. The computer based TOEFL test is not accepted. Tests must be submitted to the University of Copenhagen directly from the test centre. The TOEFL code is 7293. Applicants from countries within EU/EEA are exempted from providing proof of English language proficiency for the 2012 intake.

Section 2. The admission requirements under item 1-4 in Section 1 must have been fulfilled before 15 July in the year of admission.

Section. 3. To satisfy the admission requirements, applicants must have completed the bachelor’s degree a maximum of five years before enrolment on the Master of Science (MSc) programme in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Section 4. The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences reserves the right to request further information from institution[s] of higher education at which you have studied earlier.

Admission capacity in 2012

The admission capacity for 2012 has been set at 50 students.

Selection and restricted admission

Section 1. If more than 40 applicants meet the admission requirements, applicants with the highest grade point average for all programme modules taken as part of the qualifying bachelor’s degree, including the bachelor’s project, will be given highest priority.

Section 2. Applicants who have already completed a master’s degree will only be admitted if there are vacant places. The same goes for applicants who have been enrolled on a programme of higher education on two prior occasions without completing a degree. In special circumstances, the university can make an exception, see Section 14 of the executive order regarding admission, etc., to bachelor’s and master’s programmes at universities.
