The 3-year bachelor’s programme, which confers the right to use the title BSc in Pharmacy, is a fully integrated pharmaceutical-oriented programme with courses in the disciplines of chemistry, pharmacology and pharmaceutics. It is designed to give students a thorough understanding of pharmaceutical sciences and teach them the fundamental principles of the development, production and quality assurance of pharmaceutical products, clinical trials, the analysis of medicine use and information – qualifications that will equip them for jobs in the pharmaceutical industry and other areas.
Students studying for the bachelor’s degree spend 2 2/3; years on compulsory courses and 2½ months on a research project. The programme starts with a four-week multidisciplinary problemsolving course in basic pharmacy intended to demonstrate the relationship between the various subjects of the programme.
Language and admission
Danish is the language of instruction in the BSc and MSc in Pharmacy programmes at The Faculty. The University of Copenhagen does not offer BSc and MSc programmes in pharmacy in English. If your qualifying exam is not a Danish upper secondary exam (gymnasial eksamen) you are requested to show proof that you have passed an examination in “Danish as a Second Language” (“Studieprøven i dansk som andet sprog”) for entering into the BSc and MSc programmes in Pharmacy. Normally it takes at least 2 years to obtain the proficiency for passing the required examination. It is not possible to take the Danish examination abroad or to get a residence permit for Denmark for studing Danish language - it is thus not relevant for non Danish residents or speakers to obtain a BSc and MSc in pharmacy degree in Denmark.
