My main area of interest is drug transporters in barrier tissues. Previous research have focused on peptide transporters in barrier tissues such as intestinal epithelium, kidney and lung. Methods include radioisotope flux studies, immunohistochemistry using confocal laser scanning microscopy, molecular biology and electrophysiology. Projects are performed in close collaboration with colleauges at the department, as well as external academic and industrial partners. At the moment I focus on characterisation of cell models of the blood-brain barrier. Transporter expression, receptor-mediated uptake of drug compounds and regulation of barrier properties.
Characterisation of cell models of the blood-brain barrier. Transporter expression, receptor-mediated uptake of drug compounds and regulation of barrier properties.
The group work with a number of aspects of drug delivery through the blood-brain barrier. The
masters projects will deal with characterisation of drug, prodrug or model-drug transport across
blood-brain barrier model cell lines.
