Complete your last MSc year in Copenhagen and obtain two MSc degrees


The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen (KU) has established a double degree co-operation with the Faculty of Sciences, VU University Amsterdam (VU).

Students who are enrolled in the MSc in Drug Discovery and Safety programme at VU may complete the last year of their MSc degree at KU and vice versa. Students who pass the programme will be granted an MSc degree from both KU and VU.

How and when to apply?

Please note that you can only apply for the double degree programme if you are enrolled in the MSc in Drug Discovery and Safety programme at VU.

Step 1.
Contact Greetje Gorens, International Relations Officer at the Faculty of Sciences, VU to discuss your study plans. You will need a notice from VU stating that you are selected for the double degree programme. KU will be informed by VU if you have been selected.

Step 2.
Students who have been selected must submit the following documents before April 1st, 2012 by both e-mail and ordinary mail to:

1. A completed application form
2. Transcript of records in English from your home university
3. List of courses that you are currently taking / still intend to take at your home university
4. Photocopy of your BSc diploma in English
5. Your CV / resume in English including personal details, educational background and relevant professional experience.
6. Photocopy of your passport (first two pages)

About the double degree programme

  • Students from the O-variant must do 15-22,5 ECTS credit points of specialisation courses and a 37,5-45 ECTS credit point MSc thesis at KU.
  • Students from the M-variant must do 30 ECTS credit points of specialisation courses and a 30 ECTS credit point MSc thesis at KU.
  • Students following the double degree programme will have an MSc thesis adviser both at VU and at KU and will defend / present their MSc thesis in both universities.
  • Graduates from the double degree MSc programme will receive the following titles:

    - Master of Science in Drug Discovery and Safety from VU
    - Master of Sciences in Pharmaceutical Sciences from KU
  • A maximum of three students from each university will be exchanged each year. The first students will be exchanged in autumn 2010.
  • EU/EEA citizens enrolled at VU are exempted from paying tuition fees at KU. Non-EU/EEA citizens from VU will, according to Danish legislation, be charged a tuition fee at KU.
