Elements of artistic decoration of the department's building

The Department of Medicinal Chemistry occupies a modern and well-equipped building. In addition to a large number of organic chemistry laboratories, there are several laboratories equipped and certified for pharmacological, tissue culture and cloning work. Protein purification and characterization equipment, a crystallization laboratory for protein crystallography, and an X-ray generator with image plate detector are available. The NMR laboratory is equipped with four superconducting spectrometers (Bruker Avance 600 MHz, Bruker Avance 400 MHz, Varian Mercury Plus 300 MHz, Varian Gemini 2000 300 MHz). In 2003, installation of a state-of-the-art LC-NMR/MS system was completed. The department has extensive computational facilities, as well as a broad range of analytical and preparative HPLC instruments and spectroscopic equipment (FTIR, UV, GC-MS).

At present, the department has 22 full-time tenured faculty members, about 30 externally funded assistant professors and postdoctoral associates, about 35 PhD students, and 32 technical staff and support personnel. A major part of the department's research is externally funded.
