Research Interests

Environmental analytical chemistry of biological complex samples using:

  • sample preparation: solid phase extraction (SPE), hollow fibre supported liquid membrane extraction (HF-SLM) and pressurised liquid extraction (PLE)
  • separation techniques: HPLC-UV, LC-MS, LC-MS-MS and HPLC-radiodetection to quantify 3H and 14C labelled compounds.

Occurrence and fate of pharmaceuticals and endocrine disrupting compounds in terrestrial and aqueous environments.
Special focus on fate processes such as sorption and transformation (hydrolysis, photolysis and biodegradation).
Effect-directed analysis to identification of hazardous environmental transformation products from pharmaceuticals (in particular antibiotics and antiparasitics).
