Department of Molecular Drug Research
Medicinal Chemistry Research is represented by the four research groups:
The research theme in common is studies of ligands and their interaction with proteins, in particular receptors, transporters and proteins in the central nervous system. Medicinal Chemistry Research encompass a wide range of competences including synthetic organic chemistry, peptide and protein chemistry, and advanced molecular biology. The group carry out interdisciplinary research aiming at understanding both structure-activity relationships and function of receptors and transporters at a molecular level.
MedChemRes seminars
The MCR seminar series is arranged by the Medicinal Chemistry Research section at the Department of Molecular Drug Research, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Each seminar feature 4 to 6 presentations, often centered on a common topic, by members of the Chemical Biology, Molecular Pharmacology, MedChem & Chemical Neuroscience groups as well as invited external speakers.
Seminars are always held on Friday afternoons and are open to everyone. External attendance by prospective students is highly encouraged. As the seminars focus on the current work and research interests of the MCR groups, the seminars provide an excellent overview and insight into potential research opportunities for students that may want to join our groups.
Each seminar is followed by drinks and snacks in the Friday Bar at the Department of Molecular Drug Research. PhD students (this goes for all KU students) can earn ECTS credit by signing up for attending the MCR series as part of their PhD course plan. Contact Anders S.
