Group member Jesper M. Mathiesen co-authors a landmark article in todays issue of Nature together with the Brian Kobilka group at Stanford University, USA. In the article, the X-ray 3D structure of the µ-opioid receptor is revealed, which is an important drug target. Interestingly, it is also demonstrated that the receptor is a dimer in the crystal, which correlate with previous pharmacological and biochemical data.

Hans Bräuner-Osborne received the Elite Researcher Prize of 1.2 million DKK from the Danish Ministry of Research, Innovation and Higher Education. The prize is given to an outstanding Danish researcher for an excellent contribution to Danish science.

In todays issue 477 of Nature group member Jesper M. Mathiesen co-authors landmark article entitled "Crystal structure of the ß2 adrenergic receptor–Gs protein complex". During his post doc Jesper M. Mathiesen has been visiting scientist for 1 year in the professor Brian K. Kobilka group at Stanford where he performed experiments published in the article, which for the first time shows the 3D structure of a G protein-coupled receptor and its G protein.

KBH received a grant of 92,000 DKK to cover travel expenses for his research stay at Emory University whereas AAJ and HBO each received a grant of 81,000 DKK to hire two pharmaceutical master degree students as scholarship students in spring 2008.
