Project - exchange students

Exchange students at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PHARMA) may register as project students on research projects (called “Individualised study units”) provided that an academic staff member at PHARMA accepts to supervise the student during his/her stay.

You will be enrolled in an Individualised study unit if you for instance want to do research and write your MSc thesis for your home university at PHARMA.

Students will receive from 5 to 30 ECTS credit points from PHARMA for project work. Please, however, note that most supervisors at PHARMA prefer that students work for a minimum of 5 months (full time workload) on their reserach projects at PHARMA.

As research projects usually require a full time work effort you are not recommended to take courses while you are doing a research project unless it is recommended/agreed with your Danish supervisor.

There will be an examination at the end of the project where a written report, poster, paper, oral examination or similar in which the student summarise the goals, results and conclusions from the project is evaluated by the academic supervisor.

Read the course description for the “Individualised study unit”.

Please note that:

The application deadlines for exchange students who wish to apply for an “Individualised study unit” at PHARMA are May 1, for studies in the autumn semester and October 1, for studies in the spring semester. PHARMA does not accept applications that are submitted after these deadlines.

Important: If you wish to receive a room offer from the University of Copenhagen for the autumn semester you must apply 1-2 months before the above mentioned deadline. Read more about accommodation.

You can download a list of project ideas for individualised study units from the course and project catalogue page.

Please read more about application. Students who wish to undertake an “Individualised study unit” at PHARMA are requested to provide the following information in the space “Description of Studies” in the application form:

  • requested study period at PHARMA (start and end of stay)
  • a list of PHARMA project(s) that you are interested in (please prioritise the projects)
  • a thorough description of your academic prerequisites and interest in each of the projects
  • please indicate if you have already made an agreement with an academic supervisor at PHARMA

After application the academic faculty members will evaluate your academic qualifications and will decide if you will be admitted to the project.
