The Academy

The Drug Research Academy (DRA) is an industrial oriented research training programme under the PhD school at The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PHARMA), University of Copenhagen. DRA was instituted in 2002 and builds on a mutual acceptance and understanding of the differences in objectives and expertise between academia and industry.

The continued development of the Danish pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries as well as of society depends on the ability of Danish academia to train highly qualified researchers within pharmaceutical sciences and in key areas of drug discovery and development. To meet this challenge, DRA will educate pharmaceutical PhDs with an interdisciplinary perspective; a need that can only be met if academia and industry accept joint responsibility for the task. DRA covers all core disciplines related to the drug development process - from discovery to clinical use.
