Methodological Perspectives in Health Services ResearchCourse objectivesThe objective of the course is to enrich and enhance the participants´ understanding of major principles and methods in health services research. Upon completion of the course, the participants are required to demonstrate their ability to design, conduct, and evaluate research with special reference to health services and drug utilisation. General contents and topicsThe course covers a variety of research designs and research methods, including quantitative and qualitative methods. The course deals with topics such as:
Throughout the course, relevant examples from health care and drug utilisation will be introduced. The course is based on the participants´active involvement. Participants are asked to forward a 1-2 page description of a project they are involved in or would like to discuss. These descriptions and the participants´experiences will be integrated in the different teaching sessions. The description should, if applicable, include the following aspects of the project: Title, theme, purpose and perspectives, research questions, design, data collection methods and analysis. General informationThe study materials include a textbook on methodology and a selection of articles. The participants will be informed about the study material well in advance. The course will comprise lectures, group discussions, workshops, AV presentations, and individual assignments.
