Teaching and Learning

Course objectives


The aim of the course is to enable the participants to utilise pedagogical possibilities and options of various forms of teaching in higher education and to understand prerequisites for learning. Upon completion of the course, the participants:

  • are able to consider and choose between alternative methods of teaching in a given situation
  • have learnt to evaluate their own teaching
  • have learnt to utilise opportunities in the teaching process
  • understand pedagogical concepts and principles of teaching
  • are able to consider problems of current interest in higher education

General contents and topics


A main part of the contents of the course is exercises aimed at experiencing various teaching methods in higher education. The participants' experiences from teaching and from being taught are included. The main part of the theory introduced during the course concerns the planning and accomplishment of teaching and communication and is connected with the course exercises. Other theoretical subjects are evaluation and learning outcomes, quality improvement and other subjects of current interest.

General information


The teaching methods will be: Lectures, group discussions and oral presentations. Number of hours: 30, spread over 3 consecutive days.

13 to 15 March 2002 at Gilbjerghoved, Gilleleje.

0.069 STÅ (STÅ = student full-time equivalent) = 4.14 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System).

Course fee


Total: DKK 7,100,
of which accommodation expenses amount to: DKK 2,800.
An additional amount for study materials: DKK 300.

N.B.


Study materials (Notes) will be handed out before the course. There will be no formal examination, but to complete the course satisfactorily the participants need to take an active part in the course.

Conditions for participation: The course is primarily offered to Danish PhD students as part of the PhD study programme.

The course will only be held in Danish.
